× The baby shower is a family's first opportunity to gather people together to help play a part in their child's life

The modern baby shower originated during the 1950's baby boom in the USA. The purpose of the celebration was (and still is) to give the mother-to-be much-needed baby items. The name baby shower comes from 'showering the mother with gifts and love'.

They can be flashy affairs with lots of baby shower activities and games, or they can be much more low-key and intimate

Who Hosts a Baby Shower?

Most baby showers should be hosted by a sister, mother, mother-in-law, or close friend. Baby showers were traditionally thrown by family members who weren't close with the parents-to-be, to avoid the assumption that close family members wanted to collect gifts for themselves

When does it happen?

Typically, a pregnant mother passes through different phases in her pregnancy journey. Some people consider that an expecting mom enters a comparatively safer phase in her 7th month. So that's they celebrate the event in the 7th month

Most women report that the best time to throw a baby shower is between the 28th and 32nd week of the pregnancy. For them, that's a sweet spot because the baby bump is already big enough for cute 'belly pics,' while being early enough that they are active and full of energy.
